Thanks, CALS

I've never been a fan of "self help" book. Honestly, I'm not sure why. I mean, good advice is good advice, right?

I am at a total loss as to where I need to start on this life makeover - total. utter. loss. I mean, when I sit with my pen and paper to come up with a plan, the journey seems so daunting and failure so inevitable, that I never actually put pen to paper. Instead, I grab the laptop, open a handy e-book, and lose myself in someone elses's world for a few hours. Yeah, hours...I read like that.

I forced myself to acknowledge that this was cowardly - just another way of hiding from the elephant in the room (which happens to be my f'ed up life). So, today, I took the self help plunge. I headed on over to the e-books at the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) online library. Here's what I scored:

The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People by David Niven
The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Suppose to Be and Embrace Who You Are by Brene Brown
Courage: Overcoming Fear and Igniting Self-Confidence by Debbie Ford
Moving Forward: Taking the Lead in Your Life by Dave Pelzer

The first 2 were checked out, so I placed a hold on them. The second 2 have been downloaded into my e-reader, awaiting me.

Same old, Same ol'

I'm still working on the information for La revolución, mainly deciding exactly what I want to change/accomplish.

My nephew got arrested (again) tonight. This is so par for the course, that I can't even think about it. I did not (hear me, DID NOT) run down there. I'm tired of saving everyone else. I've given so much of myself to everyone else that there's nothing left for me. Hence, La revolución

Testing 1, 2, 3...

I just downloaded the Blogger app to my phone and wanted to test it.

Today. Today? Today!

I first thought that I needed to make a few changes in my life. But, a few changes wouldn't do. Then I thought maybe I just needed a major change. But, one major change would just leave so many other areas in the crapper. I need a LOT of major changes.

I need a LIFE REVOLUTION.

This life of 33 years has been quite the journey. Somewhere along the way, I managed to completely screw it up. Now I'm on a whole new journey to fix it - all of it.

According to http://www.wikihow.com/Start-a-Revolution, there are 10 steps to starting a revolution.
  1. Know Your Goal
  2. Build Support and Consensus
  3. Educate yourself and others about every aspect of the idea of the revolution.
  4. Understand that one of the most important aspects of a revolution is that the people are angry.
  5. Put together intentions which must be very popular among the population.
  6. Find like-minded people who are ready for action.
  7. Take Action.
  8. Work for collective liberation, because everyone's liberation is tied to each other's.
  9. Demonstrate the popularity of the movement to the people of power, legislature, and military.
  10. Realize that a drastic political or social revolution is almost always about freedom.

Now, some of these obviously will not apply to my particular revolution. I mean, this is for me, not the masses (#8), and I'm 99.99999% sure that the politicos could care less about me (#9). But, I'll use it as something I can tweak.

So, Step 1: Know Your Goal . . .
